9 AUG 2020 - REVIEW OUT!

Check out our review discussing how stroma regulates lymphatic function in the tumour microenvironment, part of a special lymphatic focussed issue of Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews.

3 AUG 2020 - PAPER OUT!

Super exciting to play a small part in this paper, with Tim Halim at the CRUK CI. They show that activation of lung-resident group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) orchestrated suppression of natural killer (NK) cell-mediated innate antitumor immunity, leading to increased lung metastases and mortality and reveal that interleukin (IL)-33-dependent ILC2 activation in the lung is involved centrally in promoting tumor burden.

17 JULY 2020 - PAPER OUT!

Super exciting to be part of this collaboration with Sarah Teichmann, Klaus Okkenhaug, and David Adams. We demonstrate the ability of T cells to produce steroids, via cyp11a1, to evade anti-tumor immunity, and show that genetic ablation of T cell steroidogenesis restricts primary tumor growth and metastasis. T cell de novo steroidogenesis represents a mechanism of anti-tumor immunosuppression and a potential druggable target.

8 JUNE 2020 - WE ARE BACK!

After a difficult few months of COVID-induced isolation and work from home, the Hutchison/MRC Research Centre and Shields Lab are back in business! It's going to be a slow, careful start, but its a start. The Hutch Core team have been instrumental in getting us back safely. Thanks guys!

19 MAY 2020 - PAPER OUT!

We demonstrate the increasing heterogeneity within the stroma as a tumor develops, showing that T cell activation occurs at the tumor following recruitment from lymph nodes and revealing the presence of three dynamic stromal populations that display unique functional properties. Super exciting to collaborate with Sarah Teichmann at the EMBL/EBI Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. Check it out!

22 FEBRUARY 2020 - JACQUI AND HAFSA TALK AT KEYSTONE

Jacqui and Hafsa travelled to Vancouver Island to join the Keystone Symposia on Stomal Cells in Disease. Jacqui presented our newest data in the field of single cell sequencing exploring the landscape of evolving tumour stroma. Hafsa talked about her exciting findings on Neutrophil-CAF crosstalk.
