JAKE CRIDGE

PhD CANDIDATE
BSc
DURHAM UNIVERSITY
UK

BIOG: I obtained an integrated master’s degree in Biological Sciences from Durham University. During this time, I undertook a number of summer projects, including a placement at the Babraham Institute (Cambridge), whereby I utilised structured illumination microscopy (SIM) to probe the phosphate starvation response of fission yeast, and a placement at Karolinska Institute (Stockholm), focusing on the functions of estrogen and NGF signalling in MYCN-driven neuroblastomas. These projects sparked my interests in cell biology, bioimaging and tumour biology. My

subsequent masters project, investigating the role of LINC complex dysfunction in breast cancer metastasis, and associated lecture series, reinforced these interests, leading me to pursue a PhD.

In the Shields lab, my project will focus on the functional adaptions of stromal and immune populations in tumour-draining lymph nodes, and the subsequent consequences of these adaptions for the anti-tumour immune response.
